BTS World is a free storytelling simulation game developed by Netmarble Games, which features fictional stories for the members of the popular boyband, BTS. It is a casual life simulation game, which puts the members through fictional stories and situations. The player comes in as an employee of the Big Hit Company—BTS’ agency—tasked with managing the band. BTS WORLD will take fans way back before BTS debuted.

BTS story

BTS World walks along the lines of a standard life sim games. However,  unlike similar titles such as The Sims,  it presents real-life artists. It also comes with a fantasy element, wherein you travel back in time before BTS made their debut. Moreover, you are not just a fan—you are their manager. The game immerses you fully in the role by letting you manage the band from their debut to their worldwide glory.

Among the tasks that you need to do is getting them gigs and sorting their characteristics. You will also need to check their daily itinerary and check their conditions. Of course, this means that you will need to talk to the band. As part of the game, the members of the band made a significant amount of live-action footage. With this, you can feel as if they are talking to you as their manager and discussing stuff connected to your relationship. 

You will have three options to choose from when communicating with the band. They can send you text messages, call you, or feed you information via social media. You can then choose between three pre-determined responses. 

Another story

Aside from the main story, BTS World offers another game mode called Another Story. You will still get the three sub-modes—Story, Mission, and Cinematic stages—that the main campaign has. However, each member in this mode will have an alternate reality, wherein they are not K-Pop idols.  Your ultimate goal here is to befriend each one of them and to help them in their non-showbiz passions. 

In this campaign, Kim Namjoon plays as an aspiring mystery novel writer. Kim Seokjin, meanwhile, is a hotel intern, striving to be the best hotelier. Min Yoongi plays a piano prodigy overcoming his fears, and Jung Hoseok is a struggling veterinary medicine student.

Park Jimin plays an amateur dancer assisting his grandma in running a rice cake shop. Kim Taehyung, on the other hand, is a hamburger-loving gamer forced to take care of his parent’s farm. Finally, Jeon Jungkook is a high schooler pursuing taekwondo. 

How do you play BTS World?

The main goal of BTS World is to help the band make a debut. To do so, you will need to collect cards featuring snapshots or short clips of the members. These collectibles are like Pokémon cards or digital versions of the photo cards when you buy any BTS albums. The higher the card value, the better chances of completing a stage. In the main campaign, you will have six chapters that you need to go through. Each chapter will have 20 stages.

Some of the stages follow the story, while some are cinematic—wherein you will be exchanging dialogues with the members or watch clips that are only available in the game. Of course, there will be mission stages that will require certain cards and several Wings. Wings are like your life points, which replenish every six minutes. Clearing stages and accomplishing other tasks will earn you Wings, powerups for your cards, and other rewards. The powerups and rewards are essential as you progress in the game.

There are several other features that you can access in the game. There are photo albums that you can unlock, and you can even style the members of the band. Moreover, you can replay your conversations with BTS all you want. However, with that great content, you need lots of memory space. The app requires an initial 98 MB storage space and 2 GB RAM to run smoothly. It can even take up as much as 7 GB in total once you download all the content. The game also comes with in-app purchases, such as extra powerups and gems. 

Verdict

BTS World is a treat to every BTS fans. The mobile game has an all-too-interesting concept and even provides some sort of backstage access to the popular band. It also comes with various content that fans would surely love to explore. It is a bit heavy on the resources, but with a feature-packed game, this is to be expected.
